Adware refers to a type of malware that displays unwanted advertisements on your computer or device. Adware is commonly activated unknowingly when users are trying to install legitimate applications that adware is bundled with.

The most common way to recognize adware is the appearance of pop-up advertisements and applications that you are unfamiliar with and on browsers where they had not been displayed before. In some cases, the adware can also cause changes to your browser, below are a few things to look out for:

1. Lagging performance and eventual crashing
2. Unrequested changes to your browser homepages
3. Appearance of new extensions and toolbars
4. Web pages not displaying properly
5. Unwanted software installing

Adware is more annoying than dangerous. There will be constant banners, in-text ads, and pop-ups that appear inside your browser window while surfing the internet. Random windows and tabs may open unexpectedly. Your computer will get slow or crash completely. There are also cases where adware can collect your data. In this case, the manufacturer can sell your adware data which shows your browsing history and may include your IP address, search queries, and web pages visited. If you have adware on your device and get tired of closing tabs that kill your battery, take action. To remove adware on your device, you need a dedicated adware removal tool.
